Is It Worth It?

This is a question that every one of us asks ourselves every day. Is it worth getting out of bed? Is it worth doing your hair? Is it worth buying food? In each situation we give up something to get something we feel is better. For example: even though I don't want to get out of bed right now, I'm hungry and want some breakfast or even though I don't want to take the time, I want to look good, ect...

Sometimes the decision is pretty easy like the examples above. There are other decisions that aren't so easy. Is it worth paying for, studying for, and taking the time to go to college? Is it worth giving up the easy lifestyle to get married and have a family? Is it worth giving up what I want for what the Lord wants?

The last question is something that we all have to decide for ourselves at some point. The Lord requires a lot of us. He commands us to not smoke, go to church, give your time and money, etc... Many people I meet have decided it isn't worth it. They see the instant reward of smoking, going boating on Sunday, and keeping your time and money for yourself. They don't see that the eternal reward from being obedient is much greater than anything you can receive immediately.

Christ had to decide whether it was worth it to save all of us by going through immense pain. The "suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink-" Christ thought that it was worth giving up what he wanted then to give us something much greater later. Do we trust his judgement enough to put aside what we want now for something he wants us to have? I know that there are great blessings God has in store for us that make total obedience worth it.
